  1. The default gateway is un-necessary for a SLIP or PPP only
  2. connection. There is only one place for packets to go, and
  3. that is out the COM port. Hence it has been intentionally
  4. greyed out.
  5.  
  6. You symptoms indicate some error in setting up your configuration.
  7. (e.g. Defining a SLIP interface for a PPP connection, or putting
  8. your shell account login down instead of SLIP/PPP login -- these
  9. are two commonly seen problems.)
